Classic BEAUTY, forever in STYLE
At Ronald Abram, there are certain classic diamond jewels that have been part of our collection since the inception of our brand. Trends may come and go, yet these pieces endure because they are imbued with a sense of beauty that is timeless.
Collectors have always looked for quality jewels to be worn, enjoyed and passed down, particularly now, in this era of sustainable buying. Beautifully crafted and forever in vogue, these pieces can be worn day and night, decade after decade.
As classic jewels, clients, particularly first-time buyers, should be seeking out pieces that combine quality workmanship with exceptional diamonds. Here are the three pieces we recommend for every collection.
A Diamond Tennis Bracelet
Elegant and understated, the diamond line bracelet has existed since the 1920s, when the concept of dressing up for cocktail hour was born. In the 1970s, 18-time Grand Slam winner Chris Evert stepped out for a match wearing a simple row of diamonds around her wrist. Her on-court style was so influential that this classic jewel quickly became known as the tennis bracelet.
Ever since Evert’s journey to become world number one, women have been making tennis bracelets part of their jewellery collections. While the classicism of the design is central to a tennis bracelet’s beauty, we recommend steering clear of a ubiquitous row of round diamonds in favour of something more personal and unique.
At Ronald Abram, we create a wide variety of tennis bracelets that are meticulously handcrafted to showcase different diamond shapes. These range from an exquisite collection of Asscher cut stones to an elegant row of alternating round and emerald cut diamonds – a signature Ronald Abram design that contrasts the subtle scintillation of the emerald cut and the brilliance of the round cut.
We recommend paying close attention to the quality and proportion of the diamonds. Poorly cut and lower-grade stones will affect the beauty and inherent value of the piece. Through the years, we have established the ideal ratio of diamond width to length, and from one stone to the next. We also only use certified D to F colour, Internally Flawless to VS clarity stones for our tennis bracelets, with the design of the bracelet entirely handmade in platinum to be comfortable and fluid upon the wrist.
Diamond Hoop Earrings
“Life without earrings is empty,” Elizabeth Taylor once declared, and we couldn’t agree more. In terms of pieces that can be worn with anything, diamond hoop earrings are an excellent, timeless investment. Framing and illuminating the face, a medium-sized silhouette is the most versatile, pairing well with any outfit.
As with the tennis bracelet, the focus of a pair of diamond hoop earrings is the stones and the settings. The simplicity of the design means there is no room for compromise when it comes to quality, so always inspect a piece thoroughly before buying, checking the proportion of the diamonds, the finish of the metal and the finesse of the settings.
JJ Abram oversees the making of our hoop earrings by master craftsmen in our workshop, with shared prong settings minimising the amount of visible metal. As the diamonds curve upwards at the back of the hoop, their direction is reversed – a carefully considered detail that ensures all the stones are facing forwards when viewed from the front.
The same accomplished hands that create our high jewellery go into making these timeless pieces.
A Diamond Eternity Ring
A traditional symbol of eternal love and classic anniversary gift, the unwavering popularity of the eternity ring stems from just how timeless a piece it is.
We are increasingly seeing women buying a Ronald Abram eternity ring to wear while travelling, in place of a more substantial engagement ring. Whether you plan to wear yours occasionally or every day, eternity rings are quintessential heirloom jewels, if you choose wisely.
Quality workmanship and the highest calibre of diamonds your budget will allow are crucial with an eternity ring. All the diamonds in our eternity rings, tennis bracelets and hoop earrings are GIA certified and precisely matched to be identical in size to a fraction of a millimetre.
Like all jewellery, these timeless pieces will require a service from time to time. It is therefore important to ensure your jeweller is established and will be there to clean and, if necessary, repair your jewellery throughout its lifetime.
The signature and serial number you find on all our jewels are a promise to our clients: that we stand by the quality of our pieces – next year, in 10 years’ time and when your jewels have been passed down. For there is no more heirloom-worthy jewel than a timeless diamond tennis bracelet, eternity ring or pair of hoop earrings, particularly if they are a Ronald Abram piece.
